It has been decided to implement a system, as per the following implementation guidelines and starting with the 2006 academic year, in which UGAS will meet some of the expenses of students presenting papers at international conferences. In principle, we notice current students in April and October of each year.

Implementation Guidelines for the UGAS-EU Support Program for Participation at International Conferences
1．Purpose of the Program
The purpose of the UGAS Support Program for Participation at International Conferences is to encourage UGAS students to actively participate in international conferences and the like, foster internationalism by presenting papers, support interaction with overseas researchers, and at the same time create a competitive environment among students and contribute to the stimulation of research. To this end the program assists with part of the expenses for participation.
2．Outline of the Program
（1）Scope of Selection
- For students presenting papers at international conferences, held both in Japan and overseas, on research findings subject to the required research supervision under the guidance of the main supervisor, based on UGAS’s education philosophy.
- The intent of the selection is to have UGAS students present papers that encompass subject matter conforming to research projects in order to gain a Ph.D. It excludes those accepted as fellows of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, and those receiving research grants or equivalent.
- Application to this program shall be limited to one time only per academic year, requires approval from the main supervisor, and shall be made to the dean of UGAS
- Applications for this program are accepted twice a year in April and October.
- On top of the application in 4. above, there might be an additional application. For the additional application, applicants who have already applied and been selected or rejected may apply for a different international conference. Students may also apply for conferences that have already taken place in the current academic year.
（2）Support Details
Details of the number of applicants selected for support in this program and the amount of necessary expense to be paid is determined by the dean of UGAS within the limits of the budget. The financial support available in this program takes budget implementation procedures into consideration, and is, in principle, limited to a single financial year. Therefore, any support must be implemented to conform to the regulations and accounting systems of Ehime University.
（3）Program Implementation
- The dean of UGAS is responsible for the implementation of the application and selection processes of the program.
- A student selected for this program shall present a paper at an international conference. The student must provide to the dean of UGAS an overview of the conference, a copy of the program showing a record of their presentation, and a copy of the main points of their presentation.
